Richard Mofe-Damijo: RMD Reboots in MAKEMATION

Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, the Creator and Executive Producer of MAKEMATION, who’s also the founder of Rise Interactive Studios and Rise Networks, cannot stop talking about Richard Mofe-Damijo.

Who would blame her? Nollywood is where it is today because of his (and many others’) efforts. It just makes sense that our “Nollywood Zaddy” is at the forefront of a film like MAKEMATION, which will redefine the Nigerian film industry.

The story of RMD’s involvement with MAKEMATION is a beautiful one.

“I had a dream. I didn’t know who to meet and how to start, but I knew people. Then, my spirit led me to call uncle Richard,” Toyosi began. “That was the best decision I made for the film.”

Toyosi would go on to attribute her onboarding of the director, Michael “AMA Psalmist” Akinrogunde, to RMD’s guidance. Through AMA Psalmist, Toyosi would meet another valued member of the MAKEMATION family, Nengi Diri, who was her co-screenwriter.

One phone call to RMD was all it took for Toyosi to find her footing in an industry she knew nothing about.

Richard Mofe-Damijo Takes up Challenging New Role in MAKEMATION

RMD stepped into an unknown world in MAKEMATION. He played a Venture Capitalist and Serial Investor named Chief Abiye Douglas, OFR, whose support was needed to push the adoption of tech and AI.

While he is no stranger to roles where he is a “big man”, he expressed satisfaction at being able to show what supporting the youths would look like in reality with his acting gift.

Toyosi had many goals for the film. One of those goals is to craft a narrative that would force conversations about equipping Africa’s successor generation. These conversations will be between policymakers, change catalysts (like RMD’s character) and audiences, steering Africa toward progress.

MAKEMATION drops in cinemas nationwide on the 18th of April, 2025.
